Learning Basic Computer Skills May Help You Land A Job
According to a recent article Lack of computer skills foils many job-seekers on managing and coping with unemployment by reporter Alex Johnson for msnbc.com, one of the primary obstacles unemployed individuals face in trying to find work is a lack of basic computer skills.
This may come as a surprise to many people. Those of us who use our computers on a daily basis may not stop to realize that everyone does not have a computer nor has everyone had the opportunity to learn to use a computer effectively.
The Search for Employment is More Difficult Without Basic Computer Skills
Of course, not every job requires computer skills, but even the search for employment is a challenge without having access to a computer and the knowledge to perform basic functions such as using email, attaching a document such as a resume, or filling out online job applications.
Individuals Planning To Pursue Online Education Need Good Computer Skills
In my online classroom, I find this to be a big challenge for some students as well. Learning to work within the online classroom can be a little intimidating at first and students who do not have the confidence of solid computer skills seem to struggle the most in the beginning.
Find a Computer Workshop to Get the Basics
If you’re unemployed and really want to have the best opportunity to find employment, perhaps the first step would be to find a basic computer skills workshop or class to attend to learn the basics of using a computer. I would suggest this as well for those who want to go back to school online. The better your computer skills, the easier it will be to get acclimated to the online classroom.
