I read a blog post today in which someone was looking for an interesting job but stated he did not have any career goals.
It made me stop and think about how important it is for us to set goals for ourselves. Long-term goals for the future are helpful, but setting and accomplishing short-term goals is the best way to get there.
Make A List of What It Will Take to Reach Your Goals
If you’ve been thinking about a new career, then finding a new and more rewarding career is a goal. Wishing it will not make it happen. So what will it take for you to get there?
The first step is to make a plan and set some energy in motion. The act of making a list of steps toward accomplishing your goal can be monumental in getting started, and without taking a first step, you won’t get anywhere.
Prepare for an Economic Upturn
Now is not the time to give up and decide there is nothing to do since the economy is so bad. Now is the time to take action toward getting prepared for a new career so that when the economy turns around, as it surely will, you will have marketable skills to offer.
