Choosing a Career Based on Your Passion
I recently struck up a conversation with a young college student sitting next to me on a plane. He is 20 looking forward to his 21st birthday.
I thought it was amazing when he told me he has visited every continent except one and hoped to do that before his next birthday.
As our conversation continued, I discovered that his college major is International Studies – who would have guessed! I thought what a perfect example of how someone’s life growing up affects what he or she wants to do as an adult.
He has traveled all over the world, so it stands to reason that he wants to do something that will allow him to continue to do what he enjoys – traveling and working with people from around the globe.
There are many things to influence our choices about a career, but this encounter made me stop and think about just how important it is for people to try to incorporate what they are passionate about in their plan for how they will spend much of their adult lives -working.
