5 Reasons Procrastination is Your Enemy

As an online instructor, I advise my students over and over to let me know when they need assistance with any of the work they are doing. However, I frequently see evidence that rather than starting well enough in advance in completing assignments, they wait until the eleventh hour and then, guess what? There is no time to ask questions in advance. I think the same thing happens quite often in the workplace, and I have decided that one of the primary culprits is putting off getting started on projects in time to seek help if it’s needed.

I contend that procrastination is the number one enemy of students and employees for several reasons. Procrastination:

1. Cuts short the amount of time needed to complete work
2. Results in work of lower quality
3. Eliminates the opportunity to ask important questions
4. Diminishes confidence
5. Keeps one from reaching his or her full potential

So, what can you do if you’re a procrastinator? Hmmm. Sounds like a topic for another day. If you’ve had any success overcoming your issues with procrastination, I would love to hear your story. Leave me a comment!
