Women Are Earning Online Degrees for Better Career Options
Many women at some point in their lives find themselves at a place where they realize it is time to take a long delayed step to do something for themselves, personally and professionally – go back to school to complete their college degree.
So often young women begin college and then take a different turn in their lives by getting married, begin working and raising a family only to find the responsibilities too great, so they make the decision to drop out with strong intentions of returning to earn their degree at a later time.
Before they realize it, many years have flown by and they still have the unrealized dream of earning a college degree and embarking on a successful career. Many of my online students relate these kinds of stories to me all the time.
The great thing is that times have changed and colleges and universities all over the country now offer online degrees in almost any area imaginable. Popular fields right now include Technology, Health Care and Business. There are many specialization paths to prepare for specific careers.
To get into a new career, earning an Associate Degree is the quickest way to make a big change. Online programs are geared toward busy adults and allow enough flexibility to make success a reality. Once you earn your associate degree, you have the background and skills necessary to keep going for a Bachelor’s Degree or Masters Degree in your chosen field.

Hi Cristina,
Thanks for your comments. It is a difficult time for many in this tough economy to find the type of employment worthy of their skills and talents. Even though it is so competitive, the one thing we can always be sure of – no one can take away our knowledge and education. I have to say I think education is always worthwhile, for both personal and professional reasons. Hopefully things will improve and there will be more positions available for your level of knowledge and skill. I appreciate your comments. Good luck.

I think it’s awesome that so many of us (women) are seeking higher education in hopes of changing careers or simply fulfilling a lifelong dream. I may be wrong for thinking this way, but I believe many employers are still discriminating against women even when we present ourselves with higher levels of education. I’ve applied for nearly 60 jobs in the past year and although I understand the economy is rough employers have told me that I’m “over qualified” when I’ve called to question when I didn’t land an interview. I’m in my last year of my EdD program and have over 12 years experience in program management, information systems management, etc, but still nothing. So is it worth going back to school is the question I still ask myself.
