Earn your associate degree in applied science.Earning an associate’s degree in applied science, also known as an AAS, can open up many doors and career opportunities for those graduates who want to use their knowledge in the medical and healthcare field.

Medical Assistants

One of the most common career options for holders of an AAS is to work as a medical assistant. This is because such a degree has comprehensively trained students in medical related subjects such as biology, chemistry and pathology.

Many of these degree training programs also offer many hours of supervised, hands-on clinical experience to instruct students in such routine but important procedures as checking a patient’s vital signs and keeping accurate records of a patient’s personal charts.

Other Career Opportunities

Other career opportunities for people with this degree include working in a hospital under the supervision of a registered nurse or working in a physician’s private practice or family medical clinic. They can also obtain positions as private duty medical aides in the homes of elderly people or in nursing homes and hospices.

Many graduates with this degree pursue further academic credentials such as a bachelor’s degree in nursing so they can successfully advance further in a field which provides them with substantial emotional and financial satisfaction and rewards.
