It is very discouraging to have the desire to work and be able to contribute to your family’s welfare and yet as hard as you’ve searched, the job just won’t come.

I have heard this story from many different people, but the encouraging thing is that many of these people have decided to make themselves more marketable for the job competition by heading back to the classroom – but not in the traditional sense – they are going back to college online.

Why Does Online College Make So Much Sense These Days?

There are many reasons that going the online route to earning a college degree makes sense. Just of few reasons of these reasons are:

Online Education is less expensive than traditional

Often there are no books to purchase since course materials are online

There are no commuting costs; your classroom is right at home or wherever you are

Childcare expenses are saved since you don’t have to leave home to go to class

In addition to the expenses you can save to go back to school online, you can also look into the financial aid available to you. Just because you’re going to college online does not mean you can’t get financial aid.

Spend your time wisely and get prepared for better opportunities for your future.

As I am nearing the end of the term with my online English class, I am looking forward to seeing how my students’ essays will turn out. We’ve been working since the first day of the course toward this end. All week I have been thinking about how anxious they must feel as the deadline approaches for them to turn in their final product.

The Unveiling Approaches

It’s kind of like painting a picture. You get your paints, paint brushes and canvas together and you start painting. You start with an original idea and develop your painting diligently until you think you’ve got it just right. You put the final touches on and then, oh my goodness, you have to share it with others. What if they don’t like it? What if they think I am stupid for painting my picture this way?

As their instructor, I have tried to guide them throughout the course and lead them in the right direction about how to improve their essays little by little. We’ve had discussion questions regarding various aspects of the process, we’ve had assignments in which they turn in various pieces of their work for review, and now it’s almost time for the unveiling.

Creativity vs Requirements

I know the feeling of thinking I have put forth my best efforts only to find that others are not totally impressed. Of course, with a specific assignment at hand, one can’t simply be creative; there are guidelines to follow and specific formatting that must be adhered to and oh those dreadful citations! I surely hope they are taking all the advice into consideration and working hard to meet the requirements fully. After all of this work, I really want to see each one of them earn the maximum points. Besides, whether they know it or not, grading good papers is a whole lot easier than grading bad ones!

If you could give advice to my students in finalizing their essays, what would you tell them?

A busy life is simply that – a busy life. Who doesn’t have one? Not many of us. And most of us can always find a way to work whatever we really want to into our already busy lives. I’m not saying it’s easy because going back to school when you have children and many other responsibilities takes a big commitment and at times life will get overwhelming. But I maintain my stance that it will be worth it in the end.

I’ve written several articles about moms and how many of them have begun to take the opportunity of young motherhood to stay at home with their children and at the same time prepare for a career. It makes sense to me! No doubt, it takes commitment and sacrifice, but in the end, the results are definitely worthwhile.

Here are 10 top reasons Moms are heading back to the classroom to earn their degrees online:

1. Flexible Schedule

With online classes, you create the schedule that works for you and helps you fit your life, your children and your classwork into your schedule.

2. No Commuting Expenses

You don’t have to leave home to study online. And today’s online classes have come a long way. You’ll find all kinds of online resources to help you.

3. No Daycare Payments

Being able to stay at home saves a ton of money you would spend for daycare, plus the extra doctor bills that come along with your child being exposed to every illness that spreads through the neighborhood.

4. Study from Home

You create your own study space to do your assignments and projects from the comfort of home.

5. Study from Anywhere

If you want to take a weekend trip or a vacation with your family, you can work ahead and still stay in tune with what’s going on in your class.

6. Spend Quality Time with Children

Every mom wants nothing more than to be there for their children. Online learning lets you create a schedule so you can study while the kids are napping, sleeping or involved in other activities.

7. Financial Aid Available for Moms

Yes, thanks to President Obama’s plan, moms can get financial aid to go back to school! And many online colleges and universities offer financial aid for qualifying students.

8. Better Career Opportunities

While your children are small and you want to be the one caring for them and teaching them, you can also be prepared for a real career when it’s time for those babies to go to pre-school.

9. Role Model for Children

Most moms want to be a role model for their little ones. Teaching by action and letting your children know that you value education is important – maybe more than you know when they are so small.

10. Household Responsibilities

Being able to keep up with these responsibilities is much easier when you can work them into your schedule and do other things too. While you’re studying, the dishwasher can be running and the washing machine too while the soup is on the stove.

Invest in Yourself and Your Future with an Online Degree

A busy life is simply that – a busy life. Who doesn’t have one? Not many of us. And most of us can always find a way to work whatever we really want to into our already busy lives. I’m not saying it’s easy because going back to school when you have children and many other responsibilities takes a big commitment and at times life will get overwhelming. But I maintain my stance that it will be worth it in the end.

10 Top Reasons Moms Go Back to School Online

I’ve written several articles about moms and how many of them have begun to take the opportunity of young motherhood to stay at home with their children and at the same time prepare for a career. It makes sense to me! No doubt, it takes commitment and sacrifice, but in the end the results are definitely worthwhile.

A busy life is simply that – a busy life. Who doesn’t have one? Not many of us. And most of us can always find a way to work whatever we really want to into your already busy lives. I’m not saying it’s easy because going back to school when you have children and many other responsibilities takes a big commitment and at times life will get overwhelming. But I maintain my stance that it will be worth it in the end.

Begin exploring your opportunities for financial aid:

Earlier this week I decided to do a little researching into the availability of student loans and federal assistance for online students. I came across several resources I think will be very useful to anyone thinking about heading back to college online.

Check Out the Resources I Found:

One of my favorite finds was the Student Loan Blog. Categories on this blog range from information about student loans and grants to career advice, types of scholarships available and more – even an article called Top 12 Weird Unknown Scholarships i.e. “Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Scholarship.” I think I’ve found a new favorite site to check out daily ! BTW – You have to know how to call ducks to qualify.

Another article of import is Federal Student Loans for Online College Students which provides information about different types of federal loans available.

Federal Aid is Offered by Some Online Colleges

I also learned that many online schools offer student federal aid and must meet certain requirement to be able to do so. Other online schools do not qualify to offer federal assistance. So your best bet is to make sure you talk with the enrollment advisor of the school you are considering and ask about what types of student assistance is available. My mama always advised, “You’ll never know unless you ask.” So I’ll stick with that advice here.

If you’re considering an online degree, start by exploring the directory of online colleges and universities offering online degrees in today’s most sought after fields at Accredited-Online-Colleges.com.

Taking an online course means you need to be prepared to turn in your assignments on time via the Internet! So one of the first things you need to do is make sure you can do that, even if you have issues with your own computer.

As an online instructor, I have to have a back up plan too. My students are expecting me to provide feedback, answer questions, and simply be available to them if they have questions.

So what would I do if my computer crashed? Heaven forbid, I live my life online and a technology issue is the last thing I want to contemplate, but you just never know. So I do have my own backup plan in place.

What should you do if your computer crashes?

You need to have a plan. Find a friend ahead of time and ask if he or she will allow you to come over should this happen.

Locate a library where you could go in case of emergencies.

Save Your Assignments to a Disc

If you do assignments ahead of time, consider downloading them on to a disc, so you could go to another computer and post your assignment in the proper place.

Natural Disasters

If you have a natural disaster such as a hurricane or snow storm, your university will probably be aware of this and inform the instructors regarding the situation in your region and you will be allowed extra time to get your assignments posted.

The main thing you need to do is contact your instructor by phone and let him or her know of your situation.

Contact Technical Support

If you can contact the technical support line offered through your college or university, you can get a ticket number which will validate your issue with your instructor. This can prove to be very beneficial for you in times of technological issues.

Accredited-Online-Colleges.com offers a comprehensive directory of online degrees available through accredited colleges and universities from all over the U.S. You can get your career going in a new direction by earning or advancing your college degree online.
